The Rally of Staden was a first introduction to the Skoda Fabia WRC for Andy Lefevere. Due to heavy rain on Sunday morning, conditions were far from ideal to get to know the car.
“I immediately had a good feeling in the car, and I also like driving in the rain. However, I did not expect to be so fast. If it had been dry all day, I probably would have had more problems with Verschueren’s R5. He is having a very strong season and is particularly fast. “
Towards the end, the Fabia suffered some hydraulic problems. The Skoda WRC had just been completely rebuilt and a hydraulic line had come loose. Andy fortunately had his mechanic Pedro along to support Aldero.
“I definitely wanted to include Pedro in this story as well and it was also he who was able to find the line that gave the problem.”
In the end, Andy won the Staden Rally for the second year in a row. “A successful introduction,” smiles Andy who is particularly satisfied with this victory. “I always ride to win, but Staden I rode earlier in preparation for the Omloop van Vlaanderen. I definitely want to thank all the people who made this possible, the sponsors, my service team, Eric Cunin and the Aldero service team for the brilliant car! “
