Eight months after the Aarova Rally, Andy Lefevere crawls back into the orange Porsche 997 GT3 next Sunday for the Monteberg Rally.
For the business manager of Yprauto, a break far too long.
“We already went testing last week and I really needed some time to get into the rhythm, taking a short corner and drifting once I can still do that (laughs). But it’s those braking zones and the very fast situations… I don’t have the right rhythm there yet.
I especially hope it stays dry, since I have had the Porsche it has always rained … That doesn’t make it any easier.”
Last year Andy Lefevere and co Marc Noppe finished fourth in the Monteberg Rally, the course seems ideal for the Porsche GT3. “Dikkebus is indeed fast, but we also have to be careful to get the Porsche stopped in time… That’s where the danger is! If we go straight we lose time, and if we brake too early we also leave time… So we will have to start a bit too cautiously, but I am aiming for a top 5 finish. Wet or dry there are still a lot of slippery parts around Ypres, be careful is the message.”
Andy was given start number 105 on the Porsche and thus will take to the track as the fifth modern car.
