The Kortrijk rally started very well for Andy Lefevere. “Thanks to my sponsor Optiek Vanneste, I had much better glasses for night driving. And I clearly noticed the difference because on Sunday I left with only 2 seconds behind the faster WRC of Duquesne. Sunday morning it was very slippery, but without taking excessive risks we stayed in the running for the lead position ” said Andy Lefevere. On the final test, however, the gearbox of the otherwise reliable Mitsubishi Lancer broke. “I don’t yet know exactly what broke, but suddenly we had no fifth gear, driving any further was pointless…”
Rally is and always has been a mechanical sport, but it is obviously unfortunate that Andy has to end the successful 2016 season with a give-up…”But we can’t help but feel positive about the 2016 season. Everywhere we started we were put forward as favorites. And out of 7 races, we won 5 times. Sebastien Ogier only won 5 times out of 13 and he became world champion, so we can’t complain lol…. ” Andy joked afterwards.
Despite being professionally very busy year for Andy, the 2016 season has been very successful. But those successes were only possible thanks to the support of the sponsors and the entire team that once again did a magnificent job.
