Next weekend, the ConXion Omloop van Vlaanderen is on Andy Lefevere’s program. Just like the Rally of Staden, where he finished a handsome second, this is a home race for the Yprauto manager.
The Omloop van Vlaanderen is a national championship race and because of this the sequential gearbox has to give way to the manual gearbox. “The regulations do not allow us to drive with this gearbox,” Andy said. “The car is perfectly tuned after the Rally of Staden although it will take some getting used to the manual gearbox again but I really wanted to start in Roeselare. It is clear that the organization is putting a lot of effort into reviving the race. I would have really liked to give them the debut of the Porsche, but it was impossible to get the car ready right now…”
With the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X, Andy Lefevere is among the outsiders. “Competing for the win seems a little too high for me. But if you see that in Staden our Lancer was only 0.3 seconds per kilometer slower than the Skoda of Verschueren then a good result is definitely in the cards.”
Andy Lefevere and co-pilot Andy Vangheluwe were given start number 7 on the Experza Lancer.
