Yesterday Andy Lefevere and co Laurens Serpieters won the first TBR Short Rally. The Yprauto business manager had a nice lead of almost 20 seconds over Steve Becaert’s Ford Fiesta R5 after 4 rounds.
“That win really makes me very happy,” Andy told me after the race. “At the beginning of this year I was suddenly faced with problems with my heart and I’m extremely happy that I was able to win a race again.”
In recent months, Andy Lefevere’s team has been working hard on the Porsche to get it back ready. “In the 2021 Omloop van Vlaanderen we had to abandon with engine problems and we had to wait extremely long for some parts. But during that period some adjustments were also made, there is a new suspension that makes the car react a little differently, but is definitely better.”
Now that the car and driver are back in good shape, Andy is looking forward to dueling with the other Porsches. “Too bad Gunther disappeared from the course quickly yesterday, because he has a lot of mileage with the Porsche this year and looking at his times on the first test it was going to be tough…”
The next races for the Experza Porsche GT3 are the Rally of Staden and in early September the Omloop van Vlaanderen in Roeselare.
