Last weekend Andy Lefevere showed up at the start of the ORC Rally, not with the trusty Porsche but with a BMW 1 he purchased last winter.
“The parts for the Porsche are running late and I wanted to further fine-tune this BMW myself before selling it again. And that test was really necessary,” said the Yprauto business manager. “Right from the start, as in Monteberg, we had the problem that the car suddenly stopped… We could have thrown in the towel, but I wanted to find the problem at all costs…”
The mechanics had their hands full, as an electronic problem is often very difficult to solve. But Andy Lefevere’s team was quickly able to find the cause and from the third lap the BMW was in top condition.
“There was a problem with the fuel pump, chapeau to the service crew for solving it so quickly. From the third lap on I could really show the potential of the BMW, but in terms of classification there was no point in giving everything anymore so we let the car go a little more crosswise than usual,” smiles Andy who will now put the BMW 1 up for sale.
“This BMW is definitely a fun and especially fast car, in the last round we were able to battle with the Ascona of Lietaer and that is already saying something … It is definitely a car with which can be driven at the front in the M Cup, pilots with interest may always contact me. We ourselves will go back on track with the Porsche from the TBR.”
In the ORC Rally, Andy and co-pilot Marc Noppe ended up finishing 6th.
