After 5 successful seasons with the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X R4, Andy Lefevere chooses a new car for next season. The manager of Yprauto.be has its sights set on a Porsche 997 GT3.
“The intention is indeed to build a Porsche GT3 and finish the second half of the season with it,” Andy told us. “With our Lancer, we had to compete against the much faster R5 cars. With a GT3 we are going to have a lot of playmates again with the same type of car. We are currently looking for a suitable car and then we want to build it completely according to the new regulations, so right away with the 3.8 liter engine and the paddles on the steering wheel.”
Andy Lefevere already has a lot of experience in fast rear tractors. He started his career at the wheel of a Mercedes 190, but really broke through at the wheel of his fast BMWs. First there was the M3 E36 and from 2007 to 2012 he drove an M3 E46.
However, the GT3 will have to wait a while, which is why the first races of the season will still be finished with the familiar Lancer. If everything goes according to plan, the Porsche should be in action for the first time during the ConXion Omloop van Vlaanderen. Before that, the Lancer will still be started in the ORC, Wervik and perhaps one or more nice ASAF tests.
