Just over a week ago, the first TBR Rallysprint was held in Oekene, only the second race of the season for Andy Lefevere. Just like in the ORC, the manager of Yprauto.be took the win. “If we can keep this up throughout the season I’ll be satisfied,” Andy laughed.
“Of course I knew the course well, we already rode most of the sections in the past with the TBR and Omloop van Vlaanderen. But I had to make the difference in the first kilometers. The technical part apparently suited me well because there I was 7 seconds faster than Van Hoof and at the finish it stayed 7 seconds as well. That EVO IX and also that EVO X of the Van Hoof family are particularly fast cars, and in the straights towards the end I couldn’t make the difference anymore.”
Prepared entirely in-house, Andy Lefevere’s Lancer EVO X R4 was once again an example in terms of reliability.
“After the TBR, I took a week’s leave, and now we have started to put in a new engine. The previous engine had just over 2000 course miles and was in need of replacement. In terms of performance a new engine will make little or no difference, we have found a good compromise between speed and wear and tear. If we wanted we could certainly go faster, but then everything would wear out much faster and that is not the intention. “
Andy Lefevere’s next race is the Staden Rally. Andy already stood twice on the podium in Staden but could never win in his home race.“With the arrival of 2 fast R5s it won’t be easy, but I’m going to sell my skin extremely dearly!“
